I am passionate about supporting people who are experiencing crisis, including homelessness and substance misuse. My approach focuses on empowering individuals by offering choice, practical resources, and tailored support to help them work towards their recovery goals.
Over the past 10 years, I have worked across a wide range of settings, including homelessness charities, private and charitable rehabilitation services, mental health hospitals, and supported living environments. During this time, I have supported people of all ages with diverse needs, including mental health conditions, physical and learning disabilities, and complex life experiences. This has enabled me to develop strong skills and knowledge in supporting individuals with complex and multiple needs.
I hold a Master’s degree in Sociology within the Department of Social Work, alongside an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, completed in 2018. I have also completed a range of training related to substance misuse and mental health and am currently studying towards a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
In my role as a Recovery Worker, I support adolescent clients through the rehabilitation process, helping them to develop life skills, improve mental health stability, and work towards independent living. I am compassionate in my approach while maintaining clear professional boundaries, and I place great importance on building trusting, respectful relationships. I strive to create a safe, secure environment where individuals feel able to open up and engage meaningfully with support.
With nearly 12 years of experience, I have effectively managed a wide range of mental health cases and supported individuals to reach their full potential while developing strategies to cope with their symptoms. I have a strong background in working with challenging behaviours, gained through clinical experience in medium-secure mental health hospitals, primarily supporting individuals with personality disorders.
My experience within substance misuse services includes developing recovery plans, harm-reduction approaches, and supporting abstinence using recovery-focused models. I am a licensed facilitator of the SMART Recovery programme, have supported the delivery of 12-step programmes, and established a peer-led recovery and wellbeing group at HMP Ford.
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and previously ran a YouTube channel. I am passionate about football and motoring, and my interests include water sports, winter sports, hiking, and trail walking—one of the reasons I moved from the Midlands to the Sussex coast. I also enjoy drone flying and photography, and I find the South Downs the perfect setting for these hobbies.
