About Us

Supporting Lives was established in 2014 and operates a range of transitional properties across South Tyneside and Northumberland. Housing is one of the key factors in motivating, achieving and sustaining change in people’s lives. We believe that everyone needs somewhere to live, people to connect with and something to do and this is the narrative that drives the development of our organisation. We work closely with local councils, charities, substance abuse treatment providers, community safety and criminal justice agencies in South Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead and Blythe.

Our Team

Most of our staff have lived experience of receiving similar services. They are passionate about what they do and provide high levels of empathy, care and professionalism. Where possible we try and break down barriers between our staff and residents to create an open and mutually respectful living and working environment where behavioural change can happen naturally.

Our team genuinely care about doing the best for our residents. We respect our residents’ privacy and have a non-judgemental and confidential approach, encouraging them to treat each day as a new opportunity.

Our Approach

We provide an open and honest living environment which is safe and supportive. We aim to cultivate a culture of mutual respect and encourage residents to share problems and support one another, addressing any friction or tension in an honest and mature way. Where appropriate, we encourage contact with family, friends and attendance of mutual aid support groups to sustain a stable and constant support network outside of our supported living houses.

Referrals

If you have someone you care for, or work with, that could benefit from our services please get in contact to make a referral, using our easy to complete online form, and a member of the assessment team staff will get straight back to you.

Stage 3
Charter Recovery Housing

We encourage residents to live independently, free from the negative cycles of homelessness and addiction. When our residents are ready, we provide a next stage referral pathway to Charter Recovery Housing, part of the Supporting Lives group. These properties require residents to be stable on any prescribed medication and to maintain abstinence from any illicit substances. Situated in Blyth, Newcastle and Gateshead, recovery housing offers a mutually therapeutic environment with a skills academy where the focus is on sustaining progress and taking the next steps into employment, training education and volunteering (ETEV).
