Sarah's story / I got my freedom back

Sarah shares her story of being in an abusive relationship, being bullied and becoming dependent on alcohol to cope with the situation. She shares how the welcoming environment of Elaine House has helped her start to make changes in her life. She shares how she values having a safe roof over her head and staff that can help pick you up when you’re down and help you with appointments and medication.
Sarah shares how the ability to be signposted to different organisations is able to provide her with counselling which enables her to realise that the abuse wasn’t her fault and gives her tools needed to move on in life. She values that she is happy now, has somewhere safe to live and doesn’t live in fear. But most importantly she has her freedom back.
Kris's story / A second chance

Kris tells how he used alcohol to cope with his feelings of being kicked out of his home and how he slept in the woods in a sleeping bag. He shares how lonely it felt and how he managed to get help from Supporting Lives when he admitted himself to hospital.
He values the support he had when he was there and is grateful for the opportunity to move into a nice house in Blyth, he has gained a lot through the different therapies available and the support with appointments, he feels grateful for the 24/7 support.
He ultimately wants to be at home with his partner but realises that Supporting Lives is an interim home where he can grow and help prove to his partner and family that he is in control of his life.
