Meet Ricky Holder, Housing Manager for the Worthing West Sussex Supporting Lives Service, whose inspiring journey from personal recovery to professional purpose is transforming lives every day.

Over 15 years ago, Ricky began his path in the voluntary sector after finding support through a Brighton-based charity. What started as a personal turning point became a lifelong mission to help others overcome addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges.

Today, as part of the Supporting Lives team in West Sussex, Ricky leads programmes focused on addiction recovery, mental health support, and life skills development. The service provides group sessions, family relationship workshops, and relapse prevention programs, helping residents build confidence and independence.

“The best part of my job is seeing someone’s eyes light up when they realise recovery is possible.”

Ricky and his team take a holistic approach, offering everything from budgeting and cooking sessions to counselling and fitness opportunities — empowering residents to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

This video highlights how empathy, experience, and teamwork can change lives — and why recovery is more than just overcoming addiction; it’s about rediscovering purpose and community.

Chris Hill / Finance Director

2 minutes

Behind every budget and every decision sits the question: how can we create stability so that people in recovery can thrive?

Our Finance Director, Chris Hill, embodies this mission. Nearly two decades ago, Chris moved from the commercial sector into the charity world. In 2006, he joined what was then Crime Reduction Initiatives (now Change Grow Live), where he helped the organisation grow from £27m to £230m in income during his 13 years as Finance Director.

That growth wasn’t about profit — it meant thousands more people could access life-saving support across the country. Chris often reflects that finance in our sector is a different mindset entirely. It’s not about margins or shareholders, but about sustainability, accountability, and ensuring resources directly improve lives. It’s about giving back and building something that lasts.

Today, he brings that same passion and expertise to Supporting Lives and Charter Recovery Housing Group, where he continues to ensure that strong financial foundations empower our teams to do what matters most: supporting recovery, independence, and dignity.
